Application for Queer Feedback Sessions 2023
Deadline: 2 December, 2022, 23:59*
* For latecomers: We will accept applications sent until 5 December, 12.00!

In Pursuit of Otherwise Possibilities is launching its second Queer Feedback Sessions program and looking for a cohort of LGBTQ+ artists and researchers interested in participating in an artistic research project exploring theories and methodologies of queering performance feedback.

Both categories of participation will support the development of queer feedback theories and methodologies. However, artists will do so through working on and sharing one (or more) of their current art projects. Artists participants will have the opportunity to present their work twice and receive feedback from a group of peers. The researchers on the other hand will contribute by examining a specific theoretical or practical aspect of queerness, pedagogy, and/or performance feedback. Researchers will offer one presentation or workshop in which to deepen their explorations with the group as well as participating in all feedback sessions for the artists. Beyond this the researchers will contribute to an upcoming publication on queering performance feedback. Before each session the presenting artist or research will meet with an IPOP Artistic Coordinator (Eli or Szymon) to discuss where they are in their process and how they would like to conduct their session.

As a Participant you will :

  • Receive an honorarium of €200

  • Connect with an exciting group of queer makers and researchers in Amsterdam.

  • Present your work and receive feedback

  • Receive mentorship from professional queer artists.

  • Contribute to research on queering feedback presented in IPOP’s publication planned for the 2023

Because the Feedback Sessions are intended to develop a group of artists who are engaging with each other's practice on a deeper level, attendance is of primary importance. Our seven sessions will be held from 11.00 to 17.00 on Saturdays: 21st January, 11th February, 25th February, 4th March, 1st April, 15th April and 22nd April.

IPOP is open to anyone who understands themselves or their work as in someway "queer" or "LGBT+." We welcome applications from a diverse range of people and do not require or expect any particular relationship to sexuality or gender. To participate in this program we encourage especially students, staff and alumni of Academie voor Theater en Dans in Amsterdam, however we are more than happy to accept applications from people with different affiliations and backgrounds or interests in queer performance.

Locations: DAS Graduate School (Overhoeksplein 2), ATD (Jodenbreestraat 3)

Please fill out this application if you are interested in participating in IPOP's Feedback Sessions. If you prefer not to submit an application, you can record a 5-7 minute video instead and share it via email or link.
