Your answer
The first component of the new Open Traffic platform is called OSMLR. It is a system for referencing roadway segments in a stable manner (unlike OpenStreetMap IDs, which change from time to time). Here is a technical preview: https://mapzen.com/blog/open-traffic-osmlr-technical-preview/ If you are an developer, are there other applications in which you would want to use OSMLR segments? If you are an analyst or a planner who is familiar with other linear referencing systems, do you have any questions or feedback on OSMLR?
