The Anti-War Committee is an anti-imperialist, anti-war organization. We include people of all races, genders, nationalities, sexualities, ethnicities, abilities, and religions. Racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, ableism, or any other form of bigotry are not tolerated.
It is our responsibility to understand and confront how oppressive structures shape our mindset and behavior. If you misgender someone or say something bigoted, you should acknowledge the mistake, apologize, and correct it moving forward through genuine effort to understand the error and educate yourself.
We aim to learn from our mistakes, grow as a collective, and foster a culture that encourages people to speak up if they or others are being mistreated. To that end, we will make regular space in meeting agendas to reflect on our past work and internal functioning.
While our organization practices unity of action, we do not expect to have unity of thought. Disagreements should be seen as agents of growth rather than the end of a conversation.
Every member and leader is subject to collective guidance. If anyone makes you feel unimportant, small, or is being disrespectful, you can contact the Organizing Committee or other people in AWC that you are comfortable with.
