Each year, CCWD reaches over 6,000 students through free programs that are available to students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades in the District’s service area. Please note that the programs are available on a first come, first served basis.
The classroom programs are built upon NGSS and CCSS-compliant curriculum from Project WET and the new Environmental Education Initiative (EEI). The educational staff at the Garden’s at Heather Farms recommends that teachers visit the EEI website (http://www.californiaeei.org/curriculum/) prior to their program dates in order to maximize the effectiveness of the in-class instructional time. The following units will be referenced in the presentations:
For 3rd grade, Changing States: Water, Natural Systems, and Human Communities. For 4th grade, The Dynamic Nature of Rivers. For 5th grade, Earth’s Water.
If you order a free classroom set of materials from EEI, please let the staff at the Garden’s at Heather Farms know so they can best serve you and your students. You will be contacted by education staff to confirm booking of your requested program.Feel free to reach out with any questions.
