There are two different parade groups on the same form because the same person is leading both groups. Your group leader is "Eternal Zan" Bowden.
THERE ARE NOW MULTIPLE CARPET RELATED PARADE GROUPS.
1) The CULT OF MARRIOTT CARPET is the original parade group that was founded in 2015 and marched for the first time in the parade in 2016. This is our sign up form. The motto on our parade banner is "You Can't Pull the Rug Out from Under Us!"
2) This IS the sign up form for the MARRIOTT CARPET CHEER SQUAD. Their Facebook group is
. They were founded in 2018 and marched with the Cult of Marriott Carpet parade group for the first time in 2019.
3) This is NOT the sign up form for the MARRIOTT CARPET MARCHING BAND & COLOR GUARD. They were founded in 2019 and their first year marching in the parade will be 2020. That group is already full. To be put on their waiting list please fill out this form.

Your email address is required because it will be used to confirm your participation by June or July.
Unconfirmed spaces will be given to someone on the waiting list. No-shows prevent people from marching in the parade. The parade fills up faster every year. Last year there were over 400 people on the parade's official waiting list and most did not get in. :(
You can cancel at any time by filling out the "Join or drop out of a Parade Group (required)" section of the form.

PARADE RULES, DOES MY CHILD NEED A WRISTBAND?
1) Dragon Con security will check for Dragon Con badges and parade wristbands. Parade wristbands are required for all people aged 7 or older to march in the parade.
2) You must wear a costume.
3) You must have a parade wristband.
4) You must have a Dragon Con badge that is valid for Saturday. Here is the parade rule for Saturday-only attendees. "With proper ID, we honor the pre-sales confirmations (usually an email) for any 2020 Dragon Con memberships that include Saturday as if it were a badge if you have not had the opportunity to pick up your badge before parade morning."
5) Children ages 6 and under do NOT need a parade wristband or Dragon Con badge.
Children ages 7 and over DO need a parade wristband AND a Dragon Con badge.
Children ages 13 and under who are participating in the parade MUST be accompanied by an adult.

GROUP VS INDIVIDUAL REGISTRATION - HOW DO I CHOOSE?
This is the most popular option and is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED for all first-timers to the parade OR to this parade group.
You will meet with the group leader on Saturday morning in the Marriott at 8:00 AM. The group leader will hand out wristbands and answer questions. Then we will all take a shuttle bus to the staging location together so no one gets lost or separated from the group. The staging location is about a mile away from the Marriott. People who get separated from the group will be left behind and eaten by zombies. WARNING: People start lining up hours early to get a good spot so the streets are crowded. Streets are closed in preparation for the parade, the parade shuttles are an exception to this.
CHOOSE GROUP REGISTRATION IF...
You will be at the Saturday morning meetup at 8:00 AM in the Marriott to pick up your wristband.
You don't want to have to sign up with the parade on Feb 15.
IF YOU CHOOSE GROUP REGISTRATION THEN...
DO NOT register with the parade on Feb 15. Since you are filling out this form that would be a duplicate registration. The parade wIll fill up so duplicate registrations take away a spot from someone else.
CHOOSE INDIVIDUAL REGISTRATION IF...
You want to register a vehicle.
You want to pick up your wristband on Thursday or Friday from the parade's table in the Sheraton.
IF YOU CHOOSE INDIVIDUAL REGISTRATION THEN...
You will need to sign up directly with the parade as an INDIVIDUAL when registration opens Friday, Feb 15, 2020 and request to be placed with the Cult of Marriott Carpet or Eternal Members group on the parade's form. The group leader will NOT have your wristband. You will be picking it up yourself at the parade's table in the Sheraton. After you have picked up your wristband you are welcome to join our meetup on Saturday morning and travel with us to the staging location.

Do you want to proudly carry our parade banner? This is a good way to be in lots of photos! You don't have to hold it the whole time, we'll be rotating people. There will be 2-3 marchers holding it at a time.

Children 6 and under do not need a wristband.

NAMES OF EVERYONE WHO WILL GET A WRISTBAND
I will check your names off my list during our Saturday morning meetup at 8:00 AM. Please add your name(s) if you choose to sign up as an individual, this gives me a total count for our group. I will also be using your names to cross check my list with other parade group leaders to ensure there are no accidental duplicate registrations. Nope, you are done filling out all the required fields now. If you've marched in the parade before and don't have any questions, you can skip to the bottom and click "submit." You''ll get an email confirmation with all the info on this form. You can keep it for your reference and read it later.

WILL THERE BE A WAITING LIST?
Yes. After spaces for 1) the Cult of Marriott Carpet and 2) the Eternal Members and Friends have filled up then we will start a waiting list JUST FOR THESE TWO GROUPS. If people need to drop out later in the year then we'll contact people on our waiting list. Extra spaces will be turned into the parade in June or July (whenever they tell us the deadline will be) so they can let in people from the overall parade waiting list at
SIGNING UP ON THE WAITING LIST DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO MARCH IN THE PARADE
In the past over 400 people were on the parade's wait list and most did not get in. :( The wait list may be closed when it is full.

HOW DO I REGISTER A VEHICLE?
If you have a vehicle then register directly with the parade as an individual and request to be placed in a specific group. Vehicles will get separate instructions from the parade. During registration write this on their form: "I would like to be placed with the (name of group) (1) Cult of Marriott Carpet or 2) Eternal Members and Friends led by Zan Bowden." Vehicle spots are very limited and in the past all of them were taken in less than a day.

CAN I SWITCH PARADE GROUPS LATER?
Maybe. First, contact the group leader for the area you want to join. They can tell you if there are any openings for their group and answer your questions. If you don't know who the group leader is then contact the parade at
and they will direct you to the right person. Some areas are managed by the parade and don't have a group leader. In that case the parade will place you into the correct section for your costume.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO DROP OUT OF YOUR OLD GROUP! Duplicate registrations take away spaces from the hundreds of people on the waiting list. Thank you!

1) All hotel-themed outfits and carpet patterns are welcome, the classic Marriott carpet or carpet pattern are NOT required.
2) Yes, you can wear the new, ugly brown "skid marks" carpet. I don't know WHY you'd want to wear that steaming pile of dog poodoo (ew!) but hey, it's Dragon Con and every hero needs a worthy nemesis!

Q: I'm new to Dragon Con and I don't get it. You people worship carpet that doesn't exist anymore?
A: Yes. Let me explain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up. It all started many years ago when the creative folks at Volpin Props decided to make their own soldier costumes but instead of the standard camouflage coloring they used the pattern of the Marriott Carpet at the time. It was a viral internet sensation! The carpet was replaced in 2016 but we continue to honor its memory. Wearing the carpet pattern is a fun way to be a part of something that is unique to Dragon Con.

THE INFORMATION BELOW APPLIES TO BOTH PARADE GROUPS.
HOW TO GET OUR MEETING AREA ON SATURDAY MORNING AT 8:00 AM.
The parade will start with or without us so please BE ON TIME. Saturday is the busiest day for Dragon Con. The crowds line the streets early to get a good spot for the parade. Traffic is shut down early to clear the streets.
We are meeting just outside the Eternals/VIP Badge Pickup room in Marriott room L507-508, lobby level. A map of our meeting spot is at

Directions: Go to the Lobby Level of the Marriott. Go to the Starbucks and look for the nearby concierge desk. Go all the way down the hallway to the immediate left of the the concierge desk. You will see the Eternals/VIP badge pickup room to your right. We are meeting outside this room in the nearby lobby area. For your easy reference, this information is in our Facebook event.
MEETING AREA MAP
The parade staging area is about a mile away from the host hotels. This is where all parade marchers are required to line up to get ready for the parade.
While all shuttle buses to the staging area are supposed to be wheelchair friendly, there have been reports in past years of that not being the case. If you have any mobility considerations please contact Dragon Con's official Disability Services as soon as possible for the most current information on this topic.
. Advance planning is key when you need to arrange alternate transportation. I strongly suggest also having a Plan B.
AFTER THE PARADE - PROFESSIONAL PHOTO OP
PHOTO OP LOCATION AND PAYMENT
After the parade we will be getting our annual professional group photo op with Bryan Humphrey aka Mad Scientist with a Camera. We will travel together straight from the parade to our photo op. The location is the Marquis level of the Marriott. Find the information booth at the bottom of the escalator and then go left. You can download your photos from the photographer's website during the convention. The higher res versions will be available after the convention, these are suitable for printing.
Spaces are limited and the cost is $10 per person. Payment in advance guarantees your spot. Online payment deadline: Friday, Aug 14, 2020. PM
for payment details. The photographer limits the number of spaces because only a certain number of people will fit in the shot. If there are any spaces still open after the deadline has passed then you are welcome to pay at the convention with cash in American dollars. No gold-pressed Latinum will be accepted. ;)
To be safe, plan to miss the first panel of the day. Also, you may want to change and take a shower afterwards. It can be a hot, sweaty walk. But so worth it!
