"Listening For What Matters Most", 7pm on October 21st, at the Peace & Justice Center, Burlington, VT. Listening is essential to good communication, yet it takes practice, focus, and skill to do it well. In this interactive presentation participants will experience reflective listening as an active process that allows people to express themselves and be understood around topics that matter most to them. Through exercises and engaging discussion, participants will learn key techniques to becoming a more effective listener, with the goals of creating deep empathy, opening up safe spaces, and strengthening relationships. This workshop will be lead by Robin Guillian and is being offered as part of Vermont's Conflict Resolution Month activities. Robin Guillian is a Mediator, Trainer, and Justice of the Peace in Burlington, Vermont. She is the owner of Vermont Mediation Project, and organizer of Conflict Resolution Month in Vermont, a public outreach initiative. She served as a mediator for Chittenden County Superior Court, Small Claims Project, and is on the Environmental Court and Mobile Home Park Mediation Rosters.  Robin has a Masters in Mediation and Applied Conflict Studies from Woodbury Institute at Champlain College and a BS in Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. We ask that participants support the Peace & Justice Center's peace education programming with a $5 donation but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
