Building Community Wealth Entrepreneurship Foundations Cohort Application
The Building Community Wealth (BCW) initiative of the Montbello Organizing Committee (MOC) aims to work with residents to develop an economic system in Montbello that provides employment and ownership opportunities for residents, protects against displacement and gentrification, and helps residents begin to build generational prosperity.

Ultimately, the long-term goal is for Montbello entrepreneurs and business owners to have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to launch and sustain their own businesses. The main components of our Recovery and Reimagination approach include (1) Entrepreneur Training, (2) Business Loans, (3) Technical Assistance, and (4) Business Incubators and Real Estate Activities.

In order to make this initiative inclusive and equitable, a group of Montbello stakeholders convened in 2022 through a series of three meetings led by the Montbello Organizing Committee. The aim of these meetings was to bring the community together to ensure that any discussed strategy was driven by constituents with the most experience, as well as those most affected by this implementation.

This plan was created using the input from those meetings, discussions with MOC staff, and existing grants, contracts, and proposals that outlined concepts, ideas, goals, and measures for the MOC Building Community Wealth Initiative.
