The Council of Canadians is organizing a Climate Code Red week of action for a just transition from October 12-17, and we’d like to invite you to participate in a way that makes sense for your organization. This week will be the launch of a plan to bring waves of support for just transition legislation to parliament.

Our goal is to build and demonstrate support for just transition legislation – really good just transition legislation – using a parliamentary petition as a tool. During the week of action, we’re inviting individuals and organizations to collect as few as 25 signatures on this parliamentary petition, then ask their MP to support just transition legislation, table the petition, and speak to the issue in the house (once it’s back in session).

This will give multiple opportunities for activists to build a local base of support for this idea, for new activists to take new actions by delivering petitions and meeting with MPs, and for MPs to demonstrate their support for just transition legislation in the house.
