Summary:Main IDEA will choose Teen Art Fellows for the 2019 Year. The Fellows will consist of teens ages 13-17 residing in Worcester and dedicated to developing their leadership and honing their artistic skill in their respective fields including, but not limited to, visual art, creative writing, music, drama, or dance. Teen Fellows will assist Main IDEA as Jr. Leaders of the Teen Program throughout the year. Priority for chosen fellows will be given to youth residing/attending school in Main South, Worcester.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Fellows are responsible for assisting Main IDEA in leadership duties for and participating fully in the Teen Arts Program- Fellows are required to submit a weekly time-log listing time spent on their field of art.- Fellows will meet with a Main IDEA staff member for a monthly meeting and evaluation.- Fellows will work with this staff member to create and work toward a set of artistic goals for the duration of their fellowship- Fellows will create presentations of their art to be shown at the Teen Open Mic & Art Night and Worcester Youth Concert events- Fellows will submit a final project in conclusion of the fellowship, to be presented at a Main IDEA event night.
Qualifications- Must reside in Worcester, MA- Must be between the ages 13-17 - Must be passionate about their artistic field and committed to growing as an artist and leader- Must complete a Teen Art Fellows Application, including 2 letters of recommendation
Key Outcomes:- Fellows will gain hands-experience of working as artists in the city- Fellows will develop their leadership and artistic skills- Fellows will work with Main IDEA to help create more capacity for youth artists in Worcester
