Jersey City Mayoral Candidate Forum on Historic Preservation and the Environment

The Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy and the Embankment Preservation Coalition are jointly sponsoring a Mayoral Candidates Forum on Historic Preservation and the Environment, planned for Sunday, May 4, 3-5 pm, at Grace Church Van Vorst, 39 Erie St.  A moderated discussion will be in-person and available virtually. An opportunity for social interaction with the candidates will follow the in-person meeting.

As the City grapples locally with human-caused climate change, the legacy of industrialization, and current rapid redevelopment with its effects on historic resources, we want to hear what candidates for mayor of Jersey City are thinking about these issues.

As we prepare these questions, we ask you to let us know what’s on your mind. What environmental and historic preservation issues affect you or your neighborhood?  What would you like the next mayor of our city to do in the areas of, for example, air and water quality, animal control and wildlife protection, stormwater control and  flooding, sanitation and recycling, open space needs, non-polluting transportation options, protection of historic buildings and cultural assets?

Help us make this forum one of mutual education for the candidates and the public.
