Bennett's Worksongers Events Sign-Up Form

Hey- let's do something! Worksong workshop? Contra Dance? Campfire singalong? Use this form to help figure out the goals and scope of your idea of a *great* event.

It's got sections for:

GOALS
FORMAT
TIMING
COMPENSATION
ABOUT YOU

This form is just a way of collecting information. It does not oblige you to host an event, and it does not oblige us to lead an event. It's a way for us all to get clear on what we mean by "hey- let's do something!" After it's done we can schedule a phone call to answer any questions we might have of each other. If it looks like we've got something, we'll put together a draft contract and send it over to you... once all the i's are dotted and t's crossed, we'll both sign it and begin warming up our pipes!

So, without further ado- the sign-up form!

    Goals

We have several general goals as a farmers, musicians and family: - We want to help revive the culture of agriculture, where farmers, chefs, and eaters sing, dance, and tell stories in their fields, kitchens, and at the table. - We are looking to sustain our family financially and spiritually through our work. - We think we can do both of these things AND help your farm thrive. - We view this as a long term project so are looking for feedback and ways to improve everything we do, aiming to build a network of farms we could return to each year. For this event, our goals are to: - Give you a well-designed, planned and executed event - Deepen your connection with your customers and neighbors - Cover our time and cash expenses - Help you reach your (realistic) financial goals For this event, your goals will probably be more specific, like: - We want to plant our garlic - We want to give our CSA a fun new activity - We want to break even on the event - We want to bring in 100 people That sort of thing. Use this section to help flesh these goals out.

    Compensation

Background. I feel lucky to say that we've been in demand lately, and in 2013 our average rate will be $1000/gig. Some, with more musicians and more travel, are coming in at $2000/gig. Though many will, we don't expect every farm will be able to come up with this kind of cash to do an event with us. What's most important to us is that we do this work, we make music on your farm, and we do it in a way that feels comfortable for everyone. We can do this in any number of creative ways- like barter for food, lodging and advice. Or we're open to other ideas, too- antique tools you want to get rid of? Let's take a look. Anyway, the point is, we've got to make a living, but we're really into getting creative to figure this out.
