About Social Communications Group

The goal of our new Social Communications Group is to honor authentic social communications and interactions. The group seeks to support communication development, self-advocacy, self-determination, perspective-taking, and problem solving through child-led play, movement, and sensory opportunities. Objectives include
  • Building upon strengths
  • Learning how our body gives us clues about our emotions
  • Cognitive flexibility
  • Perspective-taking
  • Self-Advocacy
  • Boundaries and consent
  • Learning differences between a “friend, friendly, and not a friend”
The Social Communications group welcomes and celebrates all forms of communication, expression, play, movement, interactions, and engagement.
