hackNY Public Interest Lab: Partner Organization Application
hackNY (http://hackNY.org) is a NYC-based nonprofit that has been building community among technologists in New York City since 2010. Our alumni network includes engineers from companies like Spotify, LinkedIn, Bloomberg, and Google, as well as startups across the city. hackNY alumni have built tools for organizations like Cognitive Toybox and CSforAll.

This summer, we're piloting the hackNY Public Interest Lab: a program pairing skilled volunteer engineers with nonprofit organizations to build free, pro-bono technical solutions. If your organization has a technical problem you haven't had the resources to solve, this might be a good fit.

Not sure if your project is technical enough? Apply anyway. We'll help you figure out scope.

What a partner org gets:
- A skilled engineer working pro bono (part time) on your project for 10 weeks (estimated: June 15 - Aug 21)
- A finished tool, automation, or prototype designed to minimize ongoing maintenance
- Help with data infrastructure, workflow automation, websites, or AI applications
- Engineers experienced with projects involving sensitive data and privacy requirements
- No cost to your organization

All we ask is a defined project, a staff point of contact for occasional check-ins, and a willingness to attend demo day at the end of the program (late July or early August 2026).
