Welcome to Horrors of Esperia: Halloween Lore Writing Context!

🎃 Event Overview
For this Halloween, we are challenging Adventurers to write a short horror story set in the AFK Arena universe! Choose your favorite hero(es) and write the spookiest lore about them for a chance to win x2,000 diamonds and a chance for your story to be made into a cute comic strip by the AFK art team!
🕯️ Theme
Horror in Esperia: eerie, suspenseful, or tragic tales that reveal the darker side of our world. Your story should:
  • Feature at least one existing AFK Arena hero (bonus point if you can craft meaningful narrative connections between more heroes!)
  • Take place within Esperia (can be any known or imagined location) and the AFK Arena universe
  • Include a horror element: psychological, supernatural, mysterious or more... surprise us!
📜 Rules
  • Original writing only! No AI-generated or copied content allowed
  • Length: 200–800 words
  • Language: English (for this round, more languages can be considered for future events!)
  1. Tone: Must fit the AFK universe: some degree of mature or eerie is accepted, but no gore, racism or extreme violence please!
  2. Format: Plain text. Imagines and attachemenets are welcome if they are original creations complementing the narrative, but for the sake of fair competition submissions will only be evaluated based on the text content and not the attached art.
  3. Entry deadline: October 31st 8AM UTC
  4. Submission method: post your entry on the #afk-lore channel in the official AFK Discord, then fill in the google form linking your submission! 👑 Judging Criteria
  • Lore coherence: Fits the AFK world existing lore and its tone
  • Creativity and originality: Unique take on heroes and lore
  • Writing quality: Flow, clarity, and immersion!
Rewards
x5 winners will receive 2,000 diamonds each! Among the 5 winners, the AFK writers team will pick one entry (Dev's Choice Award) that will be made into a short comic by AFK artists!
