To access and use the Canal Winchester Local School District's (CWLS) Technology, including a school-assigned e-mail account, network, internet, and any CWLS services and devices, users must sign and return this form. This agreement will remain in effect unless the CWLS Board is notified by the user of any change.
Use of CWLS's technology is a privilege, not a right. The Board's technology, including its Internet connection, is provided for business and educational purposes only. Unauthorized or inappropriate use will result in a cancellation of this privilege and possible disciplinary action.
The Board has implemented technology protection measures which block/filter Internet access to visual displays that are obscene, child pornography or harmful to minors. The Board also monitors online activity of users in an effort to restrict access to child pornography and other material that is obscene, objectionable, inappropriate and/or harmful. The Board's Acceptable Use Policy is outlined in policy 7540.04 (https://go.boarddocs.com/oh/cwls/Board.nsf/Public# ).
Users accessing any technology, the internet, through the Board's computers/network are personally responsible and liable, both civilly and criminally, for unauthorized or inappropriate use of Board's technology.
User accounts that have system-level privileges granted through group memberships or programs such as Sudo must have a unique password from all other accounts held by that user to access system-level privileges. Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) must be used for any privileged accounts when available.
Passwords must not be shared with anyone, including supervisors and coworkers. All passwords are to be treated as sensitive, confidential Canal Winchester Local Schools information.
Personal equipment used to connect to Canal Winchester Local Schools's networks must meet the requirements of Canal Winchester Local Schools-owned equipment for remote access as stated in the Hardware and Software Configuration Standards for Remote Access to Canal Winchester Local Schools Networks.
The Board reserves the right, at any time, to access, monitor, review and inspect any directories, files and/or messages residing on or sent using the Board's Education Technology. Messages relating to or in support of illegal activities will be reported to the appropriate authorities.
To the extent that a user has proprietary rights in the design of technology hosted on the Board's servers, the user agrees to license in perpetuity the use of such technology by the Board without further compensation.
