Survey of the Ligue des droits et libertés addressed to arrestees
This survey is addressed to persons whom have been detained or arrested individually or collectively during one or many protests since 2012. It is an initiative by the Ligue des droits et libertés, in collaboration with the Observatoire sur les profilages. The Observatoire is a coalition formed by university, community and institutional actors that concentrates on social, racial and political profiling.

This research will document the exercise of the right to protest in Quebec and quantify the legal outcomes of the detentions and arrests that occurred throughout the province since 2012 (for ex., criminal and penal proceedings, stay of proceedings, judicial challenges, etc.). The project aims to begin a process of reflection on potential actions to respond to the repression experienced by individuals and social movements.

2012 has been chosen as the year of reference because of the extent of mobilization and police, juridical and political repression that occurred. In particular, this project addresses the impacts of the 2012 municipal by-law amendments and the consequences of the police’s use of these tools on individuals and groups.

This online survey takes around fifteen minutes to complete, and most of the fifteen questions are multiple choice. It is anonymous.
