Booths are currently $750. After Jan. 1st booths will be $850) Booths consist of a 10'x10' selling space, one table, two chairs, & two Dealers' Badges. Additional furniture or services may be ordered at an additional cost. Each contracted Dealer also receives one 500W power drop. Freight fees are assessed separately by our decorator, and are not covered by FanimeCon. Dealers may purchase up to two more Dealers Badges per booth registered.
Please submit only one application to the Dealers' Hall, as the list is saved and no one is removed. Multiple applications will be deleted. Please inform us if you are no longer interested in a Dealers Booth.
The order vendors select their booth location in the Dealers' hall is based on Seniority. This means that the more years a vendor has exhibited at Fanime the earlier the vendor may choose the placement of their booth. Currently, our senior most vendors have exhibited for 18 years and our mean vendor age has been exhibiting for seven years. With respect to the wait list, vendors are generally contacted in the order they contacted us. Occasionally, vendors are given priority to improve the diversity of the Dealers' Hall. We grow the hall each year to allow more vendors, but the growth is at a controlled rate, so that all vendors have a reasonable chance of profiting. This means that even though there may be enough vendors trying to get in to fill the room to absolute capacity we won't until attendance can bring in enough to support the vendors. As of 2014 we have an audience of over 25,000 attendees. We are proud to have generally a low turnover of venders, and a good selection of products for the attendees.
The following are a sample of items that vendors may not sell in the FanimeCon Dealers' Hall
-Any “Bootleg” wall scrolls, posters, jewelry, figurines, statues and models
-Any and all illegally reproduced media such as VCDs, DVDs, videotapes, audiotapes, MP3s, etc.
-All consumables in any type of glass packaging are prohibited (i.e. Glass bottle Ramune)
-All items related to tobacco products including pipes, vaporizers and actual tobacco.
-Any items without the proper copyrights from the manufacturer or licensed distributor
-Items without any copyright information
-Items using color copies for covers
-Alcohol. Fanime is a dry convention. Alcohol is not allowed anywhere inside the convention center whether for personal use or for sale
Additionally, all items must have verifiable copyrights from the manufacturer or licensed distributor and the packaging must have clear print quality for official tags and licenses. It is the responsibility of the vendor to prove that the items are legitimately produced items. Vendors will be asked to remove product that it can't prove licensing has been paid to the trademark or copyright holder. Vendors must verify that items are not bootleg with a letter or contract stating the validity of the copyright in English. Refusal to remove the items or sales of the items after a warning will result in expulsion
Art being sold by the artist is an exception to copyright/trademark requirements. There are limitations to this rules as well. The artist must be in attendance at Fanime, and actively selling their items. i.e. No art directors, licensed agents, proxies, spokespersons, brokers, distributors,ets. Typically, Fanime will limit booths to a maximum of three artists, and all the artists must work in similar mediums.
There are some items that are allowed at Fanime, but special requirements apply:
-Food & Drinks: A food safety handling permit must be procures, and vendors must complete and pass a pre-con inspections. Only low risk items such as factory pre-packaged goods are allowed in the Dealers' Hall. Medium to High risk food is coordinated directly through the San Jose Convention Center. Food permits must be obtained whether the items are for sale or being given away.
-Weapons: Vendors must make certain that anyone that has access to the products is over 18 by checking ID. Only attendees over 18 may purchase weapons.. Fanime will provide Weapon's Policies to vendors carrying weapons. All weapons sold must have a box and have a weapons policy attached to the outside. Airsoft and Nerf products may be sold, but they most be secured to the selling space via cord, rope, zip ties, etc. Attendees are not allowed to carry airsoft products, Nerf products, fireable weapons (bows under tension), or live steel in the convention center. Only weapons permitted for sale in California may be sold.
-Adult Materials: All adult related Goods are to be sealed properly. All Adult Matericals must be separated from non-adult stock. All Dealers shall have signs clearly marking their Adult Goods. Adult Goods will not be sold to minors, nor will minors be encouraged to acquire Adult Goods. Dealer agrees not to sell or distribute any adult materials to minors. Dealers will make proper identification based on government-issued photo identification prior to selling Adult Goods. Nudity or sexual content must be completely covered from public view. All Adult Goods should be out of direct view of minors. Signage may be posted to state that Adult Goods are available.
