West Dean College Masters Research Project Survey
Hello, my name is Mostyn Gale.  I am a Masters student in West Dean College Clocks Restoration programme. I am investigating knowledge, opinion, and practice regarding clock repair, restoration, or conservation procedures.  (Note: watches are not included in this survey.)  It would help me in my research if you could answer this short confidential survey.  It should take you only 5 minutes--10 minutes if you write comments.

The first two questions ask about your work and your geographic location. I will use this to see if there are any trends related to those factors.

The next nine questions relate to your priorities in clock repair or restoration. Of course, many of the answers could be, "It depends."  Try to answer based on what is typical for you in your work.  Don't think abut these too hard--just go with your first instinct.

Finally, the last three questions drill down to one specific component; the mainspring. These questions assume that you have made the decision that the clock should run.   The given answers to these questions may not exactly fit your practice--in that case, either choose the closest one or feel free to write your own answer.  There is no right or wrong answers.
