2020 J.E. Cosgriff Ski & Ride Program
The J.E. Cosgriff Ski & Ride Program is back for the 2020 season — with the same low rate and lots of time-per-day on the mountain. We’re going to Snowbird again for 5 weeks of ski/snowboard lessons on Fridays after school.

WHAT: Ski or snowboard lessons for abilities from beginner to expert
WHEN: After school on Fridays
Deadline to register is Friday, January 10, 2020. However, space is limited, so please register soon. Your FACTS account will be billed.
DATES: January 31
TYPICAL FRIDAY SCHEDULE:
1:30 Buses leave Cosgriff from Nevada St. (east side of Cosgriff)
2:00 Buses arrive at Snowbird
2:30-4:45 Ski/Snowboard Lesson until 4:45
5:00 Load bus
5:45/6:00 Back return to Cosgriff to the parking lot (west side of Cosgriff)
TRANSPORTATION and EQUIPMENT:
**Parents are responsible for providing correctly-fitted ski equipment each week.**
At Friday morning school drop-off, leave skis and ski bags in the hallway outside of the gym.
At 1:15pm, skiers/boarders will change into ski clothing in the bathrooms near the gym. Volunteers will help students load the bus.
At 1:25pm, skiers/boarders will load the bus with their bags (no bags can be left at school because school will be locked upon return).
Attendance will be taken upon departures and arrivals.
Skiers/boarders are welcome to pack a snack or two, plus water, to eat/drink on the bus before skiing and/or after skiing.
In the event of bad weather and/or cancellation, parents will be notified by 11AM that morning. Please check email frequently on those snowy days.
Student Grade Level
Level 1: Never skied Before – Cannot Stop // Never ridden before – Cannot Stop
Level 2: Can Stop; beginning to make wedge turns on the easiest Green (beginner) terrain // Heel side stop; Heel side slip; beginning to sliptoe side on the easiest Green (beginner) terrain
Level 3: Confident with speed control and stopping; linking wedge turns on all Green terrain // Beginning to link heel and toe side turns on Green terrain
Level 4: Beginning to make parallel turns on Green terrain, beginning to explore the easiest Blue (intermediate) terrain // Comfortable with speed control and stopping; comfortably linking heel and toe side turns on Green terrain
Level 5: Making parallel turns on all Green and Blue terrain; beginning to explore easy bumps // Linking heel and toe side turns on all Green and Blue (intermediate) terrain
Level 6: Comfortable in any conditions on Blue terrain; making parallel turns on groomed Black (advanced) terrain // Comfortably linking turns in all conditions on Blue terrain; beginning to explore easiest Black (advanced) terrain
Level 7: Venturing into Double Black (expert) terrain and off-piste conditions // Comfortable on all Black Terrain, venturing into Double Black (expert) terrain and off-piste conditions
