This fall, we’re inviting curious and creative young people to join us for an outdoor learning course! Over the course of 10 weeks, you will explore local ecosystems, learn from naturalists and guest speakers, connect with the land, and work on a project that helps your community and the planet.We believe everyone is an emerging naturalist, so you don’t need to know anything about plants, animals, or science to apply, just bring your wonders and curiosities and youth perspective to Mount Sutro.
This application will take about 20-30 minutes to complete. We will ask you a few questions about yourself, your past experiences, what you’re interested in, and why you’d like to be part of the program.
🌱 We especially welcome applications from youth who are new to programs like this, and from those who come from communities that are underrepresented in outdoor and environmental science spaces. We are accepting 12-15 students in this first cohort.
Note: We will be prioritizing students from environmental justice neighborhoods, and/or those who identity in the BIPOC and/or LGBTQ+ communities, but we welcome all applications from youth ages 14-18. We will also prioritize students who can commit to the full course (schedule to follow).
