Background:
Kundiman, the traditional Filipino art song, is a refined expression of love deeply ingrained in the cultural and historical heritage of the Philippines. Unlike typical music genres, kundiman represents an intricate and poignant art form that resonates with the emotional and patriotic sentiments of the Filipino people.

This seminar-workshop seeks to introduce participants to the rich history of kundiman, its performance techniques, and its relevance in contemporary music, providing a valuable opportunity for professional development and scholarly pursuit. It will feature distinguished musicians, exemplars, and practitioners of kundiman from the Philippines. This is an excellent opportunity for you to gain a deeper understanding of this captivating art form and to engage with experts in the field.

This seminar-workshop is offered free of charge. Attendees will receive a certificate of attendance upon completing the two-day seminar-workshop. Registration is open until Wednesday, 16 October 2024. An email with the full details of the seminar-workshop will be sent to confirmed participants.
