Writing Assistant Application
GENERAL INFORMATION: Two students will be appointed as Writing Assistants for the 2016-2017 academic year.  Only rising Juniors and Seniors will be considered. Each position provides 5-10 hours of work per week at an hourly salary of $9.00.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Writing Assistants work with students having difficulty with their writing.
Writing Assistants help students define topics, get started on their papers, and assist in revising or editing their papers.
The Writing Assistants will keep established weekly hours that are publicized, and also be available by appointment.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Writing Assistants must write very well.
Writing Assistants must be able to recognize good writing and work well with other students to help them develop their own writing skills.
Must be able to work well independently and with others.
Must be reliable and professional.

Writing Sample
After submitting the online application, submit a short writing sample (five pages or less) to the Financial Aid Office.  This should be St. John's class work, on any topic.  It should not be a creative piece.

You can e-mail your sample to Annapolis.FinancialAid@sjc.edu, bring it to our office in Pinkney Hall in person, or send it through Campus Mail.  Your application will not be complete until we have this sample, so submit it by March 1st. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
