Candidates for the Nelson County High School Hall of Fame must meet one of the criterions listed below:
A. Student Athlete/Participant- A candidate for selection in the Nelson County High School Hall of Fame as an athlete/participant must have graduated from Nelson County High School. The athlete/participant must have made an outstanding contribution to his/her sport/competitive program. The candidate must have also exemplified character while representing Nelson County High School. The committee will consider awards, league recognition, records established, championships, and individual statistics. The Selection Committee may also consider the athlete/participant’s overall contribution to the Nelson County High School Athletic/Competitive Community. An extraordinarily accomplished group/team may be honored each year dependent on nomination but not inducted. A candidate will become eligible for nomination not until five (5) years after graduation.
B. Coach/Director – A candidate for selection as a coach/director must be a former coach/director who has distinguished himself/herself by demonstrating exceptional leadership, character, integrity, expertise and athletic/competitive achievement during his/her tenure (tenure to be defined as a minimum of 5 (five) years) at Nelson County High School. The Selection Committee may also consider any other contributions the coach/director has made to help develop and foster athletics/participants at Nelson County High School. A candidate will become eligible after retiring/leaving from coaching/directing at Nelson County High School.
C. Contributor – A candidate will be considered for entrance into the Nelson County High School Hall of Fame if the individual has helped develop and foster the growth of competitive programs and has made significant or continued contributions to the Nelson County High School Competitive Programs.
