Pursuant to Rhode Island General Law 16-2-9(a)(2), the Policy Advisory Committee shall develop policies to meet the needs of the community. These policies shall address, but not be limited to, general school administration, fiscal management, support services, personnel, School Committee governance, school-community-home relations, teaching and learning, students, facilities, and technology.
The Policy Advisory Committee's role will be advisory on matters relating to policy and will recommend policies to the School Committee. A majority vote of its appointed members will move a policy to the School Committee. All policies proposed or recommended for revision by the Policy Advisory Committee must receive at least two public readings at a school committee meeting prior to adoption by a majority vote of the North Kingstown School Committee.

The committee membership will include the following members:
- Two members of the School Committee;
- The Superintendent;
- At least one district or building level administrator
- At least one teacher from within the district
- At least two students from within the district (middle and/or high school)
- At least three (3) parents/guardians of a student from within the district (ideally one each from elementary, middle and high school level)
All members shall serve a two (2) year term, commencing with said committee’s inaugural meeting.
