What is Voices of Homelessness?
Voices of Homelessness (VOH) is a team of Rhode Islanders with lived experience of homelessness who use storytelling, education, and advocacy to raise awareness and advance systemic change.
VOH speakers share their stories and perspectives in classrooms, community forums, legislative hearings, conferences, trainings, panel discussions, rallies, and public events across Rhode Island. Through lived expertise, speakers help audiences better understand the realities of homelessness, challenge stigma and misconceptions, and inspire collective action toward housing justice.
VOH believes that people directly impacted by homelessness should be leading the conversations and solutions that shape policy, services, and public understanding.
