Initiated and supported by Ad Lib, in partnership with the ROx, Pied en Coulisses and the villages of Rouvroy, Belgium's LIBITUM is a multidisciplinary residency programme for Belgian and international artists, all disciplines included. Implemented in Gaume (South of Belgium), the first edition of this programme will take place from 4 to 25 June 2023. It will bring together and welcome around twenty artists per week for research and creation work on a personal project, and offer time for collective exchanges around the projects.
THE RESIDENCY
Belgium's LIBITUM recidency program offers
> a residency period of 1 to 3 weeks depending on the needs of the project;
> a work space adapted to each project: studios, an equipped stage, a dance room, multipurpose rooms, a soundproof room, workshops, a wood and metal construction workshop, outdoor work and rehearsal spaces;
> accommodation for the resident artists in a rural environment with furnished accommodation, in studios, guest houses or caravans, adjoining a communal living space equipped with wifi;
> meals and catering (full board);
> individual support for each projects and exchange sessions with invited
> experts;
> creation grants of 1000€ may be awarded to support a maximum of 8 projects among those selected and hosted in the framework of this residency programme.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
All applicant artists must :
> Have a professional artistic practice;
> Speak French;
> Be available on an uninterrupted basis for the duration of the residency period for which they are applying;
> Participate in the exchanges and professional meetings with the other artists part of Belgium’s LIBITUM program;
> Participate in the round tables and public residency outings that will take place during their residency period, every Saturday at the end of the day.
TYPES OF RESIDENCY
Writing, Research and Creation Residencies
Who can apply ? Individual artists ; collectives (1 to 4 people max.)
In which working spaces ? Individual studio ; multipurpose room ; workshop ; outdoor space.
Eligibility ? A personal or collective project, in the process of development, that requires a period of research, experimentation and creation in one of the following disciplines: music, dance, theatre, circus and street arts, digital arts, audiovisual creation, visual arts, fashion, design, book arts, urban arts, installation, performance.
Workshop Residencies
Who can apply ? Individual artists ; collectives (1 to 4 people max.)
In which working spaces ? Multipurpose space (workshop type), wood worshop, metal workshop, multipurpose room, and outdoor space.
Eligibility ? A personal or collective project, in the process of development, that requires a period of research, experimentation, creation, manufacturing or construction in one of the following disciplines: urban arts, digital arts, audiovisual creation, visual arts, fashion, design, installation, performance.
Stage Residencies
Who can apply ? Groups, collectives or companies requiring time for research, directing and writing on stage (2 to 7 people max.)
In which working spaces ? Equipped performance hall at the ROx and a large stage (12x8m); dance hall at the ROx (15x17m); stage (6x6m) at the Pied en Coulisses, multipurpose room and outdoor rehearsal site .
Eligibility ? A personal or collective project, in the process of development, which requires a period of research, experimentation and creation on stage in one of the following disciplines: music, theatre, dance, circus and street arts, digital arts, multidisciplinary project (installation, performance).
Artists wishing to benefit from this type of residency must prove that they have public or private fundings (regional, national, international) for the project for which they are applying for a residency or an operating grant to pay the team in residency.
