Sports Funding Survey
In the upcoming budget, the MLHS finance committee will be recommending  a "pay to play" formula that will incorporate the entire sports funding into the overall budget of the high school.  Most sports fees will be $125 which incorporates the current $35 "transportation fee" into that amount.  So, essentially it is a $90/sport increase.    The exact amounts are not yet determined but will be around this amount.
There are two ideas being floated around that need to be decided upon about what the "pay to play" will cover.  These are the two options that directly effect families, so we are seeking your input:
1.  The "pay to play" pays for all volunteers to run games (ticket takers, scoreboard, concessions, scorebook, etc.)

or

2.  The "pay to play" covers all new purchases of things like uniforms, equipment upgrades, warm-ups.

If option one is chosen, then families will pay to play AND still fundraise to cover equipment upgrades, warm-ups, practice gear, uniforms, etc.  They will no longer be required to cover game shifts but still could get paid back for their pay-to-play if they decide to work on gamedays.

If option two is chosen, then families will still be required to volunteer on game days or CASH-OUT at an additional $100/sport.  There would be no additional fundraising requirement.

We are seeking parental input about the two options.  Would you rather continue to fundraise and not have to volunteer or no longer fundraise and continue to volunteer?
