The Greater Sydney Commission, has agreed to step in and undertake a review of planning in the Ryde Council area. This review will look at the 63 storey proposal and other developments in Macquarie Park together with broader planning issues across the Ryde Council area. Preliminary recommendations will be published in February next year.
I will be asking the Greater Sydney Commission to particularly look at the following:
Macquarie Park should fundamentally remain a commercial precinct.Ryde Council has the highest area zoned for medium density in Sydney. Council's local planning laws need to be urgently updated so that they are more aligned to the settings at Lane Cove Council. The number of villas in our suburbs need to be significantly curtailed. More villas equals many more cars in our already crowded local streets.The area between Meadowbank TAFE and Victoria Rd needs to be rezoned as a JOBS PARK, and DEFINITELY no more high rise ! This will enable an opportunity implemen major traffic solutions for that area including the widening of Victoria Rd into 3 lanes under the West Ryde bridge and the creation of a car park for West Ryde station.
