TAKE THE POLL: Do You Support UTVs in New York State?

UTV's--Utility Track Vehicles--are slightly larger than their ATV cousins. As a result, they exceed New York DMV weight limits for recreational off-road vehicles. New York State is losing out on hundreds of thousands of dollars in registration fees for UTVs. More importantly, sportsmen, seniors and families are missing out on outdoor enjoyment that the UTVs help provide.

Senator Patty Ritchie (District 48, Jefferson, Oswego and St. Lawrence Counties) sponsors bipartisan legislation (S.1946) to allow UTVs to be legally registered in New York. The bill has 21 cosponsors in the Senate and Assembly--and has passed the Senate THREE separate times.

The holdup continues to be the State Assembly, where downstate opposition continues to keep the bill bottled up.
