Bring Your Own Technology Parent Survey (COPY)

North Canton City Schools is investigating the idea of Bring Your Own Technology for students. This means allowing students to bring in their own technology devices such as laptops, tablets, e-readers, and smart phones, and use them for school related activities. School related activities could include taking notes, doing research, creating projects, writing reports, taking assessments, communicating with students and teachers, taking pictures, and such.

Schools around the country and in our own county are investigating and implementing this as a way to help get new technology into the classrooms. Students are liking such programs because they get to use more modern technology, and technology that they are familiar with since it is their own.

Of course these programs come with detailed guidelines for use (when, where, how) and consequences for misuse. As an example, Forest Hills School District in Cincinnati has posted online their parent and student handbooks for their Bring Your Own Laptop program. You can access their handbooks using the links below to see how their district has implemented such a program.

There is no guarantee that our school district may be able to roll out a Bring Your Own Technology program, but this survey will be very helpful as we investigate this possibility. We are asking that all parents of NCCS Middle School or High School students complete the survey below to tell us your opinions on this topic. Please complete the survey only one time. Thanks!
