Hello Canadian academics, entrepreneurs and activists!
The Canadian Organization for Undergraduate Health Research is searching nationally for a driven leader with marketing experience to fill the role of Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).
Our goal as a not-for-profit organization is to enable students from under-represented groups throughout Canadian universities with opportunities to partake in medical research by streamlining the process of engaging in research. The COUHR program works to connect under-represented students with professors and medical researchers. We hope to increase the enrolment of under-represented in advanced academic programs (MD, MSc, PhD etc.), while simultaneously allowing them to give back to their communities. We understand that research experience as an undergraduate student is critical for admission to higher-level academic programs. Supplementing under-represented students with research opportunities can act as an efficient bridge in improving both the futures of our participants and their communities. Low-income, refugee, immigrant, and aboriginal communities in particular tend to face many healthcare barriers, some of which include transportation, language barriers, lack of access to knowledge, and anxiety due to religious and cultural constraints. Assisting keen students of these communities in taking leadership and caregiver roles can bring about appropriate representation in the medical community.
