The People’s Choice Incorporated welcomes application for membership from those wishing to promote progressive local government in Christchurch and the Canterbury region.
The goal of The People’s Choice (TPC) is to achieve the vision statement of the society as adopted and amended from time to time by the society. The Vision Statement is below.
The objects of the Society are:
- To promote the good government of the City of Christchurch and the Canterbury Region.
- To contest Christchurch local and Canterbury regional government elections by standing candidates under the name The People’s Choice.
- To achieve a voting majority on those Christchurch local and Canterbury regional government organisations which The People’s Choice chooses to contest.
- To stand a team of candidates which recognizes gender equity.
- To stand a team of candidates in which the Tangata Whenua and ethnic minorities are represented.
- To guarantee all elected members of The People’s Choice the right and duty to vote on all matters in accordance with their own conscience, beliefs, and judgement, subject only to adherence to the principles indicated in The People’s Choice Vision Statement and the Code of Conduct.
- To promote collegiality and cooperation between elected members of The People’s Choice through regular meetings.
