ABOUT US

The ceroh, located in the Yuli Township, Hualien County, is where the Xiuguluan River and its tributaries converge. The 193 County Road also runs through this area. In this settlement, diverse groups including Hakka, Minnan, Mainland Chinese, and Amis people live together, creating a unique, diverse, lively, and bustling community. Rice, turmeric, and bamboo shoots are the three major features of the Zhi Luo Tribe, and under the tribe’s respect for life and friendly attitude toward the environment, they have become important tribal industries.

In the ceroh, there is a group of small farmers who are mutually supportive, trustworthy, and united in their efforts. They formed the “Rice 86” team. "Rice 86" originates from the Amis language word "Mipaliw." In the past, during harvest seasons, in order to make up for the shortage of labor, tribe members would help each other with tasks such as harvesting and planting rice, a practice that also symbolizes the spirit of mutual assistance in traditional culture. The name "Rice 86" reflects the importance of traditional cultural economy and emotional exchange. The members of the team not only honor this tradition but also practice it by respecting the natural ecology, valuing each step of the process from farming the land to delivering crops to consumers' tables. Each small farmer carries a dream of their homeland and agriculture, working together, encouraging one another, and moving forward as one.

FOOTPRINTS TABLE
In the large-footprint rice fields of ceroh, enjoy a feast that celebrates the natural flavors cultivated from this land. The meal represents the three main crops of the Zhi Luo Tribe: rice, turmeric, and bamboo shoots. By tasting these foods in their original flavors, we connect with the soul of the crops. The dishes serve as a gateway, opening a door to the spirit of the cultural life of the ceroh.

AGRICULTURAL EXPERIENCE
Arrowroot, known as "Alida" in the Amis language, has a harvest season from November to April. Its fine starch and pure white color make it a natural thickening agent, and it can also be made into candies, puddings, and jellies. Due to its health benefits, it has gained significant attention. Depending on the season of your visit, you can experience the harvest of different crops and even make your own jelly or drinks, tasting a variety of flavors.

RICE PAINTING
To promote the tribe's agricultural products, the creative idea of rice painting was developed, which has now become a signature agricultural product of the ceroh Tribe. Using a carefully measured and tested nutritional ratio, locally grown red rice, purple sticky rice, millet, white rice, and brown rice are used in this unique art form. Through layers of interesting techniques, the rice grains cultivated in ceroh are arranged to create beautiful images that reflect the artist's vision.
