For OWAA's conference (
https://owaa.org/2023-conference/), we seek proposals from members and nonmembers for 3-hour workshops intended to hone the skills of attending outdoor communicators from across North America.
Each instructor will teach a 3-hour course TWICE. Each class will be capped at around 10 students to ensure a personalized, hands-on learning experience. Instructors will be compensated $40 per student (up to $800) and will receive complimentary conference registration. Workshops will be capped at 10-12 students, depending on the total number of registrants.
Possible classes include (but are not limited to): blogging, podcasting, digital media, narrative writing, memoir writing, social media, fiction, video editing, video production, landscape photography, wildlife photography, macro photography, digital asset management and photo processing, and drone photography.
It's ideal if workshops can be HELD OUTSIDE to further immerse our attendees into the local outdoor environment. If you require that your proposed workshop be held inside, please note that in your proposal - along with any basic A/V needs that you might require.
Workshop presenters are expected to promote the conference to their peers and colleagues via direct outreach and/or social media posts. Three such attempts should be made no later than two months before the start of the event. Note too that the minimum number of attendees per workshop to allow it to happen is three. If there are only two or less people signed up by a month before the conference start date, the workshop will be cancelled.
If you are interested in teaching a course on one of these topics (or have another idea not listed here), please fill out the following form.
We look forward to hearing from you!
