My Mum, My Hero
My mum doesn't wear a cape or fly through the city with a mask but she is my superhero. Being a midwife is hard enough, but being a midwife with three girls is definitely harder.
In 2016, my mother graduated from the Ara Institute and became a midwife - dealing with life-and-death situations, bringing new life into this world and taking care of women. She's had many calls at 2am.
The Covid-19 lockdown was definitely the hardest thing. She had to keep working and put herself at risk to look after her clients, while my two younger sisters and I were at home with Dad, or at school with a few teachers. She worried that if she got Covid-19 she would bring it home and give it to us or her clients.
As a sole trader, she has to deal with her own taxes and do her own accounting. She always tries her best to get us what we need and also some of the things we would love to have.
