Role of the Postpartum Doula:My main role as the postpartum doula is to help your family make a smooth adjustment. The services I provide include but are not limited to: offering physical & emotional support to the mother, breastfeeding assistance, newborn care instruction, baby wearing assistance, sibling support, partner support & light household tasks (meal prep, tidying, baby laundry, feeding pets/short pet walks). Studies have shown that women who have social support during the postpartum period tend to have less postpartum depression, breastfeed for a longer duration, & make a better adjustment to parenthood. As a postpartum doula, it is my goal to help you adjust to the many changes and new challenges you may encounter with a new baby. It is my hope that when you have support, those challenges can feel less overwhelming, your confidence may be higher and your new family can bond and flourish.
