Internship Application
Thank you for taking your time to apply to our internship program! Interns are highly valued at Free Geek, so we hope to support you on your path of development while you provide us with your skills.

Here you will learn how to test and assemble computer hardware and gain valuable leadership experience along the way! As a Reuse intern, you’ll work alongside the Reuse Team to identify and test computer hardware, remove components for testing, and decide whether a device should be recycled or refurbished. The devices you will learn about are optical drives, power supplies, monitors, network devices and other peripheral cards.

Differing from our volunteers, Interns are expected to follow a time and schedule commitment. We expect interns to be with us for at least ten weeks up to 6 months to a year.

Interns will work at least one shift a week in order to meet these time and schedule commitments. A typical intern shift is one 10:30-5pm shift, which can be on any day between Tues-Friday. (Saturday shifts are reserved for our partnerships.)

Interns will work with the volunteer coordinator and the manager of a department to help determine a schedule that works for both intern and Free Geek.

Interns will also need to complete an interview for their position as they will be responsible for more than our volunteers in the warehouse.

Interns at Free Geek will continue to work with the Volunteer Coordinator and the manager of the department they're interning at, with the manager being the intern's direct report. The intern will communicate primarily about their goals, their tasks, and their needs primarily with the manager unless otherwise given a different point of contact.

Thank you for your time and dedication to these requirements and expectations! We hope to see you in our building soon!
