Endorse the Improving Seniors' Timely Access to Care Act in the 118th Congress

Please join us in endorsing the Improving Seniors' Timely Access to Care Act which would improve timely access to quality care for seniors under Medicare Advantage. Health plans, health care providers, manufacturers, and patients agree that the prior authorization process must be improved to better serve patients and reduce unnecessary administrative burdens for clinicians. And the Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act is the solution!

The bipartisan, bicameral legislation is championed by U.S. Senators Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-KS), Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ), John Thune (R-SD), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), and U.S. Representatives Mike Kelly (R-PA), Suzan DelBene (D-WA), Ami Bera, M.D. (D-CA), and Larry Bucshon, M.D. (R-IN).

Last Congress, the bill unanimously passed the House and was cosponsored by a majority of members in the Senate and House. However, the CBO score prevented further advancement. The Senate and House co-leads led efforts to reduce the score by encouraging the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to implement final rules that significantly reduced the cost. Welcoming the final rules, the co-leads made modest changes to the legislation to ensure passage in the House and Senate. Updated bill text can be found here and a redline can be found here.

The bill is scheduled to be reintroduced by the Senate and House sponsors on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.

Since its introduction, over 550 organizations that represent patients, clinicians, hospitals, and other key stakeholders in the health care industry endorsed the legislation. For those that endorsed the bill last Congress, we hope you will renew your support. We also encourage new supporters to join us in this movement.
