If you’re reading this, that means you’ve read our CFP for this upcoming 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵+ issue!
We cordially invite you to submit your creative and/or academic works that center on the themes of inequality, vulnerability, speculation, and survival in the context of post/apocalypse. You may submit your works in English or Mandarin. We accept multiple submissions to all of our categories.
All submissions are welcome by May 15, 2025.
For submission instructions to each category, please see the following:
1. Critical Response / Essay
This section features critical essays related to the featured topic. Each submission should be within the word count of 900-1500 words. Essays should be formatted according to MLA 9th edition.
2. Book / Film Review
This section features original reviews of books or films. Reviews should include a summary of the work alongside an analysis connected to our theme.
Submissions should be 600-1500 words and formatted in MLA 9th edition.
3. Creative Work
This section features any kind of short creative work.
For textual work, we accept poetry, short story, memoir, nonfiction, etc.. Prose should not exceed 4,500 words, and poetry should not exceed 40 lines.
For non-textual work, we accept paintings, sketches, photographs, videos, comic strips, music
calligraphy, etc.. Videos should not exceed 6 minutes and should be uploaded on YouTube; for non-video art forms, please scan or photograph your work. All files should have a resolution of at least 72 ppi and in JPEG format.
4. Collective (Re)Definition
Inspired by the October 2024 issue, this section welcomes submission of short answers to one of the following questions, and will be featured in a special section in the issue:
“What is the definition of an apocalypse to you?”
“Can apocalypse be personal?”
“Have you experienced apocalypses?”
Submissions should be less than 100 words. Titles are optional. One attached photograph is encouraged.
File names:
Please name your submission files according to this format: (Name)_(Student ID)_(Submission Genre)_(Title)
For example: "John Chen_R12122035_Film Review_A Review of Coppola's Apocalypse Now"
You are welcome to shorten your title and the submission genre if they make your file name too lengthy as long as we can easily distinct them.
For videos uploaded to YouTube, please include "Project+: Apocalypse" in your video title.
