RHUL Birth Order Effects on Values Research

Information

Our names are Neil Griffiths and Dr. Anat Bardi (Department of Psychology, Royal Holloway, University of London). We are conducting this research as part of a wider programme to better understand the factors affecting decision making in organizations in order to improve decision making in organizations. If you would like to discuss any aspect of the research, you can contact us by emailing anat.bardi@rhul.ac.uk or dnanlg@gmail.com.

The study is conducted online. This part of the research is confined to birth order effects on our values. It involves completing a questionnaire on what is important to you in your life and providing some information relating to your birth order, age and gender. This should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Nobody except for the above named researchers will be allowed to see your answers and in the study you will be known only by number. So the information is completely confidential and only broad trends of results will be reported.

Your participation is voluntary and you can withdraw at any time without giving a reason. You can decide not to answer any question that you prefer not to. However, this would amount to withdrawal, as, in this phase of the research, there are no other decision-making questions to answer and collect data from.

This study has been reviewed and approved by the Psychology Department internal ethical procedure at Royal Holloway, University of London. The RHUL psychology ethics committee is contactable through the administrator in charge of ethics Sharon.Clutterbuck@rhul.ac.uk

(1) The first initials of all the siblings in your childhood family in their birth order, (2) followed by '#' (3) followed by the last four letters of your childhood surname - for example: if you were born into the Smith family and your elder sibling is Zack and you are called Jess your code would be ZJ#MITH
