COGNITIVE DISSONANCE is a psychological discomfort when an individual’s values/beliefs/attitudes conflicts with his/her behavior (actions).e.g. A person who has his /her own ethical values may have to fire many number of employees during downsizing for the sake of the company’s benefit. In a professional work environment there may be such instances where dissonance occurs i.e. where a person acts against his/her own values, beliefs and attitudes.
REDUCING DISSONANCE is very much necessary to strike a balance between one’s behavior and values/beliefs/ attitudes and it involve various methods like changing your actions to suit opinions, changing the environment you work in, justifying your actions or altering your values and opinions etc.
