Ann Arbor Pioneer (3-2; 1-1 SEC Red) at Temperance Bedford (2-3; 1-1 SEC Red) *
This game could see the teams combine for 65-70 carries on the ground. Pioneers running back Bryce Young versus Bedford’s triple option is an intriguing matchup. It might be whoever has the ball last wins. Pioneer, 40-35
Ann Arbor Skyline (0-5; 0-2 SEC Red) at Ann Arbor Huron (1-4; 0-2 SEC Red)
Skyline’s big numbers in the passing game hasn’t translated into success in the win column, but I think it does this week. Alex Lozon goes for 300-plus and three touchdowns in a win. Skyline, 42-28
Clear selection
Adrian (2-3; 1-1 SEC White) at Ypsilanti (3-2; 1-1 SEC White) *
Ypsilanti scored 70 points in a win over Adrian last year. I don’t think the Grizzlies will match that total. Adrian is an improved team versus last year, and just last week pushed Chelsea to double overtime. If Marquis Smith is back in the lineup healthy, Ypsilanti’s offense should be able to hold off the Maples. Ypsialnti, 35-21
Chelsea (4-1; 1-1 SEC White) at Ypsilanti Lincoln (3-2; 2-0 SEC White) *
If Chelsea can make it a low-scoring game, force some turnovers and play physical I think they have an opportunity to steal one. This was a difficult game to pick, but I’m not sure the Bulldogs will be able to dictate the pace of the game like that. Lincoln, 47-40
Dexter (0-5; 0-2 SEC White) at Tecumseh (3-2; 1-1 SEC White) *
Tecumseh has allowed 27 points or more in four out of its five games this season. The Indians defense allows teams to hang around, but not sure if Dexter has the ability to win a shootout especially with starting quarterback Tristin Staebler banged up. Tecumseh, 42-17
Manchester (4-1; 4-0 Cascades) at Grass Lake (5-0; 3-0 Cascades)
Manchester needed a goal line stand in the final seconds to beat Hanover-Horton last week 18-16. The Flying Dutchmen might need a few more points this week to get past a Grass Lake team averaging almost 40 points per game. I think quarterback Corey Johnson has a breakout week to keep his team undefeated in the conference. Manchester, 42-35
Clear selection
Milan (2-3; 1-3 Huron) at Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central (5-0; 4-0 Huron)
This one won’t be easy for Milan. The Big Reds, who have struggled offensively this season, visit a Monroe St. Mary’s team that’s allowed 27 points on the season and only two touchdowns over its last four games. Monroe St. Mary’s, 30-7
Clear selection
Monroe (4-1; 2-0 SEC Red) at Saline (4-1; 2-0 SEC Red)
Saline gets a chance to take control of the SEC Red at home Friday. It bulldozed rival Temperance Bedford 49-17 last week. I don’t think Hornets coach Joe Palka will let the win go to his team’s head, and expect just as complete of an effort when his team takes the field against Monroe. Saline, 42-10
Clear selection
Whitmore Lake (2-3; 1-2 Tri-County) at Ottawa Lake-Whiteford (3-2; 1-2 Tri-County)
Whitmore Lake’s hasn’t shown its ready to breakout of its slump while Ottawa Lake-Whiteford has shown its capable of scoring points in bunches. Unless the Trojans run game can put up a big number, I think their losing streak goes to three games. Ottawa Lake-Whiteford, 33-14
Clear selection
Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard (4-1; 1-1 Catholic) at Pontiac Notre Dame Prep (1-3; 0-1 Catholic) - 7:30 p.m.
A pair of teams that tend to play each other very close. I expect Gabriel Richard to pull out the win in another low scoring affair. Gabriel Richard, 24-17
