While we never turn schools away, this form is a formality to gain background and contact information as well as to get a better understanding of your motivations for a campus garden and/or Garden Ranger Program. We are currently only accepting applications within Los Angeles County; we do not exclusively build gardens at schools. However, we do prioritize building gardens at sites that will include our educational Garden Ranger Program.
We understand funding is often a deterring factor, so we want to be upfront with our costs and communicate any special needs at your site that we should be mindful to accommodate to. The average one-time cost of starting a new garden is $5,000 (though this may vary depending on the needs of your site).
For the Garden Ranger Program, schools are asked to contribute annually to the cost as follows: Title 1 Public School Contributions -- $5,175.00 Non-Title 1 Public School -- $6,900 Non-Public School -- $9,660
EnrichLA DOES NOT teach or maintain any gardens that don't have the Garden Ranger Program. These schools depend upon a teacher/ administrator/ parent/ volunteer to be maintained.
If you are a Title 1 school and you cannot contribute to the minimum cost of the program, please indicate this in the “Other Information” sections and we will do our best to apply for additional funding for the program. We are often able to garner at least partial funds for the initial garden build.
