The MAPS (Mentors, Advisors, Peers, and Sponsorship) Program provides mentorship for Women In Bio members in informal small-group settings. MAPS peer groups are made up of women that are a mix of seniority (post doc through VP) and of industries including pharma, diagnostic, and biotech companies as well as institutions and academia. Peer groups operate by monthly meetings hosted by 2-3 group leaders to facilitate topic discussions that are relevant to the professional and career development goals of the group.
This year, MAPS will offer peer groups in a virtual, in-person, and hybrid format. Groups will be geographically based in the San Diego, Orange County, and LA areas, except for the Director’s group, which is a special interest group that is virtual-only. Following an in-person San Diego launch meeting on April 17th, 2024 (the Directors', LA, and OC launch parties will be virtual-only at the same day and time, launch party invitation link below) that brings together all Southern California groups, individual groups will be able to meet once a month either virtually or in-person, based on the preferences of the group.
APPLY NOW for our 10th mentorship cohort that will run from April to September 2024. Complete the application below and don't forget to register separately for the in-person launch party event in April: https://community.womeninbio.org/event/socalmaps41724. Applications must be received before May 31 to be eligible for Cohort #11. Applications received after the deadline will be considered for our next cohort in 2025.
NOTE: Applications for peer groups are accepted on a rolling basis, and cohorts open once annually.
WIB membership is required for participation in peer group monthly meetings (except for the first "launch event" meeting, which provides an opportunity for people to see if they would like to participate). Please register for a one-year WIB membership through this link - https://www.womeninbio.org/page/membership
We look forward to meeting you!
