Needham Boys Youth Lacrosse (“NBYL”) 2024 Scholarship 

Needham Boys Youth Lacrosse (“NBYL”) strives to create an encouraging and safe environment to introduce and spread the love of lacrosse for boys between K-8th grade across all levels of experience.  We aim to teach and promote the game through skills development, sportsmanship, teamwork, accountability, respecting others and having fun.

We The award provides an opportunity for the recipient(s) to pay for a portion of their college expenses during their first year. 

Successful candidates will have achieved distinction in areas such as community service, extracurricular activities, leadership, and academics. Award recipients select their own institutions and field of study. Award recipients will use the scholarship, as they deem necessary. The award is a form of recognition for their outstanding achievements during their High School years and as a recognition of their participation in NBYL. 

Eligibility Criteria:  In order to be eligible for the scholarship, the candidate must:

  • be a graduating high school (public or private) senior that is continuing education beyond high school, including college, trade or military. 
  • be a NBYL alumnus that played with NBYL for a minimum of 3 years during middle school/jr. high school (6th, 7th and 8th grades)
  • show a commitment to community service, a passion for achievement and a continued involvement with the sport of lacrosse in some capacity during their high school years

Application:  An application must contain:

  • your High School transcript and verification of your participation in High School lacrosse
  • at least 2 letters of recommendation from a teacher, coach, youth director or organizer that should mailed separately to the address below or emailed to miketabachnick@gmail.com
  • a recent photograph
  • a 500-1,000-word typed essay on how lacrosse has enriched your life and how NBYL has played a role in your growth and development.
  • completed Application Form
