Thinking about last season’s tryout
process: The communication about the tryout process (dates, structure, evaluation criteria, etc.)
was clear and sufficient.
The tryout process was fair and objective
It is important to me as a parent/guardian to observe my child's tryout sessions
If tryouts remain closed to parents/guardians, what would help build and/or reinforce your trust in the process? (Select all that apply)
Allowing parents/guardians in the stands has a positive impact on the players’ performance.
Do you believe players perform better with fewer distractions and outside pressure (including from parents in the stands)?
Tryouts are meant to simulate game-like situations and allow players to be evaluated independently. CHBAMHA may consider implementing a no-noise environment during tryouts — this means no cheering, coaching, noisemakers or verbal encouragement from the stands. Outside noise or direction can distract players or unfairly influence the session. In some cases, this may even negatively impact a player’s score.
In the above environment, If a spectator creates excessive noise or interferes with the process, their player may be removed from the session and could receive zero scores for that ice time.
How do you feel about this expectation and consequence?
Would you prefer tryouts to remain closed to spectators, or be open to parents/guardians to watch?
