*** APPLICATIONS CLOSE SUNDAY 12TH January (12/01/24) AT MIDDAY (12PM) UK TIME***
We will be assessing on a rolling basis, so apply as soon as possible!
The School of Climate Change (SoCC) is an eight-week course taught by leading Oxford academics and organised by the Oxford Climate Society (OCS). It is designed to equip participants with a comprehensive education in the basics of climate change - from the physics of the greenhouse effect to climate justice. Pitched as a 'Climate 101' course, the SoCC is open to everyone, wherever you are in the world.
The weekly course consists of online lectures, Q&A session with lecturers, a panel debate looking at healthcare and disease emergence and a workshop on a circular economy.
The sessions will take place from 6-8pm each thursday and will be livestreamed. They will also be recorded to accomodate those who cannot watch live. Recordings will be uploaded over the weekend after each Thursday session.
No previous experience or knowledge is required: we welcome applications from all backgrounds and levels of climate knowledge. Neither do you need an affiliation with Oxford University to participate. We are looking for commitment, motivation and genuine interest - and we're sure you've got that given you've made it here!
To cover the cost of speakers, we will ask successful applicants for a
£10 payment for the course
. However, we have 'no questions asked' policy for financial hardship, which you can indicate at the end of this form.
If you have any further questions, please contact us at
schoolofclimatechange@gmail.com. We look forward to receiving your application, and hope to welcome you as a participant in the School of Climate Change soon!
