Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) successfully launched the Innovation Launchpad @ CUE, a program to support CUE students in advancing their innovative ideas into businesses in October 2019. This program employs an objective-based mentoring process coupled with hands-on workshops to enable students to advance their ideas into reality. This program was launched using support from Alberta Innovates Institutional Support for Entrepreneurial Education program as well as collaborations with local innovation supporting organizations such as Business link AB, Startup Edmonton, Alberta Women Entrepreneurs, Canadian Intellectual Property Office and in-kind support from CUE.
In addition to helping CUE students launch their companies, this program prepares them with a variety of entrepreneurial skills such as leadership, risk-taking ability, time management, public speaking, presentation skills etc. These skills contribute to preparing a skilled workforce that is prepared to be leaders in the community, are risk-takers and proficient problem solvers.
The showcase event is an appreciation of the hard work that CUE students have put in to advancing their ideas. The students will present their ideas/projects to a panel of seasoned entrepreneurs and will have an opportunity to win prizes (subject to terms and conditions) that are listed below:
