Anneka-Rose Burrell is a Gold Coast-based, emerging writer. She’s completed her BFA in Creative Writing and has had her prose published in Scratch That Magazine. Anneka’s passion for writing stems from a desire to examine the human condition. She believes that within the deconstruction of existence and consciousness lies the yellow brick road to cultivating deeper connection. A common theme across her works is her dissection of morality and creating character driven narrative arcs. It is Anneka’s endeavour to use her characters to show the similitude that can be found through failures and triumphs, alike.
This ARC Request form is for A King's Fate, the first book in the Fates Covenant series.
A King's Fate brief synopsis:
A King’s Fate is a first in its series, romantasy novel. This fast-paced, fantasy dual POV, told in first person, follows the stories of Adeena, a disgraced immortal executioner; and Malik, a reluctant king in the last living mortal world. Following a slow-burn enemies to lovers arc, the two find their fates intwined by powers beyond their control and must work together.
A King’s Fate has similar romance elements to the Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen, while it’s world-building and dark storytelling and politics is reminiscent of Red Rising by Peirce Brown. With an intriguing anti-hero for an FMC comparable to Fang Runin from the Poppy Wars, A King’s Fate blurs the lines between the perceived 'good' and 'evil'.
When disgraced immortal, Adeena, is given the opportunity to redeem herself through watching over a philandering king she accepts the challenge, but now the two must go to war together if they wish to bring justice to a world spiralling into darkness, and Adeena soon realises that unveiled truths could compromise everything she thought she stood for.
