PAST WORKSHOPS INCLUDE:
JOHN MALONEY- ------------"PHYSICAL ACTING CHOICES"
Any acting teacher will tell you that making strong choices is the best way to act well. Unlocking the secrets to making strong physical choices makes you look more confident and charismatic on the stage, in front of a microphone, or on the big or small screen.
-John Maloney will teach a 6 hour physical acting workshop that will unlock your physicality, allowing you to make stronger choices and clearly defined characters.
-John is a beloved acting teacher all over Taiwan, regularly giving workshops and guest directing for various companies.
-"John opens windows to exciting new worlds in his workshops. He then let you climb through and play in them. A teacher/director like no other!” --Josh Myers, Artistic Director of Taichung Improv Team
MANDY ROVEDA- ---------"ACTING AND INSTINCT"
Our lives are filled with a constant barrage of stimuli, and most of us spend our days busy and stressed. These things can be detrimental to an actor and can create blocks and emotional walls. In this safe and supportive space we will work on "unblocking", following impulses and learning how to "raise the stakes." Using different methods and exercises, students will work on learning to trust their instincts and approach the work with honesty. This workshop is for both beginner and experienced actors alike.
BROOK HALL- --------------"MEISNER ESSENTIALS"
Learn one of the most popular modern film/TV acting systems. This popular Hollywood acting technique is based on a total understanding of yourself, your character and the surrounding of any given scene. The goal of Meisner's method is to eliminate the actor on the stage or screen, leaving a character that exists completely within the moment.

THOMAS LIM- "FILM AUDITIONS"------------The On-Camera audition is a must for any wannabe working actor. In this class, we'll bring sides from well-known movies and set up a "mock audition" from your coming into the door and introducing yourself to your on-camera slate and performance. Get professional feedback from the teacher, a one-time Hong Kong feature film casting assistant, and watch other students to see what works and what doesn't, so you have the tools to get the job.
BROOK HALL- --------------"ACTING 101- AN INTRODUCTION TO ACTING"
Everyone starts somewhere, and this class is designed to be your first professional acting class. We'll introduce the "demi-Gods" of acting: Stanislavski, Adler/Hagen, and Checkhov and discuss the elements of "drama" and creating real out of "air." The magic If to the "in/out rule." Open-scenework gives students a possiblity to explore concepts with immediate feedback, and commercial sides are performed with feedback. Students from this class will learn the confidence and technique necessary to walk into the next casting or reading and walk out with the part. (Many former students have done just that.)
JOHN MALONEY- ------------"INTRO TO SHAKESPEARE"
This class will enable you to gain the skills to read the acting signals that Shakespeare built into his plays and show you how to make interpretative choices. It is designed to give you the tools to understand and perform the greatest playwright of all time. You will discover how to bring heightened language to life and explore Shakespeare’s characters, language and rhythms in monologue and diologue. Many contemporary film stars started their careers with Shakespearean acting. Come see how learning this specialized craft can make YOU a better overall actor. (It is advised that you take "Acting 101 - An Introduction to Acting" prior to this course unless you have substantial acting experience.
NEIL BENARI------------"ACTING THE SONG"
Learn from a 8-time Broadway stage and popular NYC feature film actor how to bring your singing to life. More than just a pretty voice is needed in today's competitive musical theatre environment. Adding story, knowing when and how to move, and how to interpret the music in a way that compels the viewer to watch more is essential. For your next audition or if you've already got the job, you need these skills. And no one in Asia has more legitimate Broadway experience than Mr. Benari. (Les Miserables, Chess, Phantom, Fiddler on the Roof, Man of La Mancha, and more)
CHEN CHIA KUEI-------------- "ACTING FOR THE CAMERA"
Learning specific skills for on-camera acting is a challenge for any actor. We will work on your facial angles, blocking, cheating toward the camera, etc. You will work off of a person standing next to the camera, and then off of a person moving—to improve your focus and concentration. After watching your recorded scene on the monitor, you will receive a lot of very helpful, constructive feedback from the teacher. Then you will have a chance to do it again, incorporating the feedback into your performance. Performance on camera followed by critiques will enable us to optimize your strengths and eliminate your weaknesses.
